What Sold On eBay: April 16, 2019

What Sold On eBay

On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, I sold two items on eBay.

NHRA Mellow Yellow Pro Stock Event Winner Phoenix 2019 Jeg Coughlin Jr. Hat

I sold an NHRA Mellow Yellow Pro Stock Event Winner Phoenix 2019 Jeg Coughlin Jr. Hat at a fair market value via Best Offer two hours after listing it.

Living in the “Racing Capital of the World” you run across some awesome motorsports related items on occasion, and this is one such item.

While I have seen plenty of these hats in person and on TV, I had to do a double take when I spotted this last week while at Goodwill along with some other racing hats. You see, this is the hat that you’ll see the race winner wearing in post-race interviews. And sometimes crew members and owners as well. The race took place two months ago.

Jeg Coughlin Jr. won the Pro Stock class at the Magic Dry Organic Absorbent NHRA Arizona Nationals held Feb 22-24, 2019 at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, AZ (Phoenix area).

VERDICT: Buy it if you stumble across one. It’s a home run.

Indiana University Hooded Sweatshirt by Colosseum Athletics

Despite having awful photos, I sold an Indiana University Hooded Sweatshirt by Colosseum Athletics via a 40% off sale.

This was listed in October 2017. That tells it all.

VERDICT: Avoid. I’m not picking these up anymore. Even similar new with tags items move slowly. No thanks and good riddance.

What Sold On eBay: April 15, 2019

What Sold On eBay

On Monday, April 15, 2019, I sold two items on eBay.

Sealed Disney Toy Story VHS Video Tape

I sold a Sealed Disney Toy Story VHS Video Tape via Best Offer and 13.40% Promoted Listing. You read that right. I’m testing out Promoted Listings at the trending rate +2% this week since both 1% and trending +1% weren’t doing much last week. TBD how that pans out, but it moved this stale inventory. Also, that’s another reason to charge shipping on top. Promoted listing fees aren’t charged on shipping. Yet.

This was listed in November 2018 and was in an auction lot that I picked up for something else. So basically free money.

VERDICT: Don’t buy, but if you get it for free it doesn’t hurt to list it.

Tobin Kittens Kitchen Towels Stamped Embroidery Kit

I sold another Tobin Kittens Kitchen Towels Stamped Embroidery Kit via Best Offer.

Apparently, the spring is embroidery season as I’ve sold 3 of these in the past 3 weeks. Hopefully, the rest of them will move soon as well.

VERDICT: I wouldn’t go out of my way to pick these up, but if you have them and/or can get them for under a dollar, they should eventually sell for around $10 shipped.

Weekly Listing Challenge Update for Week 16 (2019 Q2 W3)

Yesterday I listed 27 items on Fazoom.com and 95 items on Poshmark. 122 listings is a great listing day indeed.

Tuesday will start with some eBay listings before heading back to Fazoom.com and Poshmark listings.

Platform Listed Goal To List
Fazoom.com 27 100 73
eBay 0 50 50
Poshmark 95 100 5
TOTAL 122 250 128

Stay tuned to the What I Listed category to see the progress.

Doing Inventory

Taxes are due today, so while procrastination is center stage right now I decided to take the weekend off from blogging and listing and tackle something that I abhor but has to be done to make sure things run smoothly. Inventory.

Warehouse Learning Grounds

Back when I was in college I worked in a photo supply warehouse. Yeah, back when film was still a thing and the owners told me that digital was a “fad”. They went out of business some years back.

Anyway, this is where I cut my teeth to the whole world of inventory management and order fulfillment. The bin location model in place there is the same one that I use for my own mini-warehouse today. And if I had to, I know how to ship Haz Mat and entire skids of merchandise.

But back then we had catalogs with words. Not a bunch of photos. And very few one-off items ever made it into the system unless it was an auction pick up. The inventory system itself was all command line as well, and as I said, no pictures. You’d match up SKUs and part numbers if you weren’t sure, then someone else would double check it. Simpler times indeed.

To my point, inventory was something that we did once a year in January and everyone in the entire company came in over the weekend to do it. As time went on I somehow got elected to be the one to do inventory ALL YEAR LONG. Sure, it’s easier for someone who knows the entire catalog in-and-out to do something like that. But man was it tedious.

My boss would hand me a printout on continuous green bar computer paper (affiliate link) that we used in our wide dot matrix printer as I arrived to work. That printout was of a number of warehouse sections which when I wasn’t pulling and packing orders I would double check and update our inventory as needed. Did I mention how tedious that was?

Looking back on it, that was a great experience though. And it certainly comes in handy with reselling. I only wish that I had a proper warehouse space to do it out of. Someday.

Do you do inventory checks? If so, how often?

What Sold On eBay: April 12-14, 2019

What Sold On eBay

From Friday through Sunday, April 12-14, 2019, I sold three items on eBay.

Georgetown Hoyas T-Shirt

I sold a Georgetown Hoyas T-Shirt via a 30% off sale.

This was listed in October 2018 and picked up in a bulk lot of similar shirts. I have more and all of them will be removed from eBay and added to Poshmark.

VERDICT: Don’t buy. Yes, I’m biased, as I don’t like listing clothing since it is so bulky, slow moving & prone to returns. Graphic t-shirts aren’t a bad clothing niche, so if you had the storage room & patience to sell them, the long game would be fine.

Eagle and Heart Cast Iron Trivet Set of 3 (2 Small, 1 Large)

I sold an Eagle and Heart Cast Iron Trivet Set of 3 (2 Small, 1 Large) at full asking price.

This was listed in September 2018 and picked up in an auction box lot.

VERDICT: It might sit a little while, but cast iron seems to be hot right now. Buy.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars Starter Pack for Xbox One

I sold Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars Starter Pack for Xbox One via Best Offer and 6.30% Promoted Listing.

This was listed in December 2018 and picked up along with a bunch of similar items at Toys R’ Us in early 2018 as they were clearing out inventory. There are plenty more for sale. Which platform do you need?

VERDICT: Don’t buy. While these do sell, they’re too bulky & heavy to be moving as slowly as they do. And the game is done. You’re at a 3-pound shipping rate and they take up a lot of valuable shelf space.

2019 Q2W2 (Week 15) Sales Recap

Quantity wise we had our best week since Week 5. Overall tied for #5 out of 15.

Dollar wise it ranks #8 out of 15. Mediocre, but it could be worse.

Almost everything was smalls. Slashing prices 50% across the board a few weeks ago seems to have made little impact. But I think it cleared out some deadstock, so that part is good.

Bottom line, every week has been higher than the previous one since we bottomed out for the year in Week 12. Let’s keep going up!

Weekly Listing Challenge for 2019 Q2 W3

The name of the listing game this week is Poshmark.

The main goal is to remove 100 clothing related items from eBay and to move them to Fazoom.com and Poshmark. The ultimate goal is to remove the majority of our clothing from eBay and to free up the listing space for more collectibles, antiques and other hard goods. Since clothing sells slowly I’d rather have them listed on a platform focused on clothing, and one that has an incentive to help move them since they don’t get paid until the item sells.

On eBay, my goal is a standing 10-a-day listing average Monday-Friday, which usually is done over 3 or 4 days. Some weeks I hit it. Other weeks I don’t. But I already have my 50 items lined up, so it should happen this week.

Platform Listed Goal To List
Fazoom.com 0 100 100
eBay 0 50 50
Poshmark 0 100 100
TOTAL 0 250 250

Weekly Listing Totals for 2019 Q2 W2

My listing goals were hit last week, so that was a good week!

Platform Listed Goal To List
Fazoom.com 56 50 0
eBay 55 50 0
Poshmark 54 50 0
TOTAL 165 150 0

Stay tuned to the What I Listed category to see the progress.
